Ingenious PR and Twelve:53 Productions today announced that in honor of the 2010-11 theatrics season, Twelve:53 Productions will host a casting call for the upcoming touring musical dramedy Cheezecake Boiz & The Diva on Sunday, September 12, 2010 from 9am until 5pm at Dancer’s Pointe in Metairie. The purpose of the casting call is to cast the three main elements of the musical: actors, dancers, and singers.

Qualified and interested participants are encouraged to prepare a song selection from the following: Males – “Stand By Me” by Ben King or “Imagine” by John Lennon; and Females – “Beautiful” by Christine Aguilera or “I’ll Stand By You” by Carrie Underwood. Participants should also bring their resume and headshots for the casting director to review.

The auditions will take place at Dancer’s Pointe 5101 West Esplanade Avenue Suite 12-13, Metairie, LA 70006. Cheezecake Boiz & The Diva is a non-union production. Nicki Minaj Calls Drake Twitter Marriage ‘Mischievous’

‘Drake is just my little brother, and I kid with him all the time,’ Minaj says.

Nicki Minaj promises there were no “Drickis” born in the 24 hours she and Drake were “married.” This past weekend, Nick called into Atlanta’s Hot 107.9 and spoke to DJ Drama about a myriad of topics, including her recent Twitter marriage to (and divorce from) her fellow Young Money rapper.

“Drake is just my little brother, and I kid with him all the time,” said Nicki, who will be performing at this year’s VMA pre-show. “We were just being crazy. I think we were a little bit bored. There’s really never a dull moment. I wouldn’t say we were bored; I would say we were being mischievous.

“I was doing an interview, and every day, I see some things written about me that aren’t true,” she added. “I wanted to give the blogs a bit of payback and put my own story out.”

When asked if she were still single, Nicki coyly answered, “I’m always single. I don’t date boys. I don’t like boys. It’s true. I don’t change. I think boys are yucky, and that’s it. Nothing more to say.”

When it comes to the kings of hip-hop, however, Minaj had plenty to say — especially when she’s on a track with them. Nicki recently appeared on the Kanye West/ Jay-Z collaboration “Monster,” which also guest-stars Rick Ross and Bon Iver. Minaj has gained a swell of support from fans who say she has the song’s show-stealing verse.

“I’ve just been blessed to be on a song with two living legends. In my book, Jay and Kanye are icons, and I never in a billion years would have thought I would be on a song with one of them, let alone both of them,” she said. “I’m happy people think I murdered the record. It just feels exciting to be a part of that collab. Seriously.”

Nicki also revealed that she has moved to Los Angeles and is still hard at work on her debut LP, Pink Friday. That means no days off — even on Labor Day.

“I know a lot is riding on this album,” she said. “I wanna make everybody proud. There are some people that are rooting for me out there. I wanna go in.”

Trust to take Bush’s Heisman

Bush, now a standout with the Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints, could not immediately be reached for comment.

The Heisman trust has been conducting its own independent inquiry into Bush’s eligibility since the NCAA ruled in June that the USC star had committed multiple violations by accepting cash, gifts and other impermissible benefits while playing for the Trojans. Yahoo! Sports first detailed the extra benefits in September 2006. In its findings, the NCAA retroactively ruled Bush ineligible for part of the 2004 season and all of 2005. The NCAA also ordered the USC program to remove all references to Bush from its sporting venues and promotional materials and vacate his statistics from all games in which he was ineligible.

In July, incoming USC president C.L. Max Nikias announced that the university would be returning its copy of Bush’s Heisman to the trust, stating the Trojans would honor and respect athletes who “did not compromise their athletic program or the opportunities of future USC student-athletes.” New USC athletic director Pat Haden followed up in August, stating during an interview with the Dan Patrick radio show that Bush should also voluntarily return his Heisman.

While others pressed for a swift decision, the trust opted for a patient, meticulous effort. Sources said the trust did its own detailed investigation over the past three months, using a litany of resources and reviewing its information against the NCAA’s findings. The trust also offered Bush a chance to impact the decision.

The process apparently came with considerable debate – in part because of the trust’s quest for due process, but also because of the unique nature of the decision. Never in the history of the award has the trust been forced to retroactively rule on the eligibility of a past winner. That reality, along with the NCAA’s findings, created a tangled knot of deliberation regarding the trust’s place in the role of enforcement. Sources said the prominent issues discussed included accountability, on-field vs. off-field conduct, implications of retroactively stripping an award and possible impact on future athletes and the NCAA.

Two factors outweighed all others, sources said: The Heisman ballot necessitates candidates be in compliance with NCAA bylaws and concern over the Heisman’s reputation in the wake of the NCAA findings against Bush.

The status of USC’s 2004 Bowl Championship Series national title remains to be determined. BCS officials are awaiting the NCAA’s ruling on the Trojans’ appeal of the June finding.
