Shive’s Artist of the Week: NessaSary

Name: NessaSary (Vannessa)

 Age: 24

 Hometown: Vero Beach

 When did you start rapping?

I’ve been rapping since I was very young, but officially writing and recording since 12.

Can you compare your style to anyone in the game right now?

Ummm… no. I’m a new entity. Although I’m a mainstream rap artist, I feel like I’m a breath of fresh air.

What would you consider to be your recognizable track?

Rack City Remix

Look At Me Now Remix

At this point, what’s going on with you? Any deals?

Well, as of right now I’m in a production deal, but I’ve been in touch with a few labels. I’m not out searching for a deal at the moment, but a few majors have contacted me and we are in touch. I’d love to be in a Major distribution deal soon, but I’m just focused on keeping my fans happy and well fed with good music.

What steps did you take in getting to the point your at now?

Step one was letting go of the stigma of what a typical parent or a typical college student should be. When I became uninterested in class and more interested in following my dream, that was the very first step. I then used YouTube to my advantage as my platform/stage to showcase my work. It took off from there, and I’ve been receiving an overwhelming response of positive feedback. Now I’m to the point where people want to work for me, work with me, and support me all the way to the top. It’s still only the beginning for me.

Who would be your ideal artist to work with?

Chris Brown. I love his artistry. I know girls are gonna think I’m CRAZY when I make this next statement, but I’m not attracted to Breezy like that. He is a very talented young man, and I respect his art. Brilliant writer and performer, and I know he will give his all on a track.

What is your ultimate career goal?

To be in a place where I’m well known and well respected for my artistry. I want to be a role model for the masses, and an inspiration to as many people possible. I want to be loved for not being afraid to be me.

Everyone wants to know, “who is Luke James?” James is singer/songwriter that has written for many famous artists such as Justin Bieber’s (“That Should Be Me”) and Britney Spears (“Kill The Lights”) and not to mention,co-writing Chris Brown’s “Crawl.”

James’ vocal approach was the focus on his debut album, “Made to Love” on Mercury/Island Def Jam via New Age Rock Star Records (NARS), the label ran by award-winning producer Danja (Mariah Carey, Keri Hilson) and long-time collaborator / mixing engineer Marcella Araica (Madonna, Pink, Timbaland).“This isn’t a fad for me,” declares James. “I’m willing to go wherever with this because music is everything to me. This is my world and how I see it. My music speaks for me in a way that’s relatable and truthful.”“Honest is the best word to describe Luke,” adds Danja, who began working with James nearly four years ago. “Every message in his songs is sincere. And Luke’s voice is another obvious factor. Putting all of that together, he possesses a universal connection that touches everyone. He’s an undeniable force.”“

YG’s music revolves around the day-to-day travails of the average teenager. Indeed, he attributes his heavy popularity to his ability to relate to the normal person. “My music is about my everyday life,” he said. “That’s why I think so many young people like it — they can relate. It’s what they and their friends are going through every day — shopping, looking for girls, getting in and out of trouble.”
