Stereotyping

 Happy Holidays to all and I hope you have a blessed and prosperous New Year. Sorry, I know I have been out a while but I’m back with a very interesting topic. Stereotyping, why we do it and why it’s done mostly by black women!

  Say for instance, an attractive Police Officer approaches a very attractive black woman. The woman doesn’t want to date him based on what has happen to PAST officers. Not that officer in particular but all officers. Based not on the way he approached her or the way he looked but because of the job he choose to pursue . WOW!!! REALLY?? Come on yall. Just because people wear the same uniform doesn’t mean they are the same person. The same formula goes for skin tone as well.

 Let’s stop judging and stereotyping each other. Get your information on someone based on how they treat you! It seems to me that the brotha with the criminal record gets all women. Take a trip to the New Orleans Court house, all the women are there visiting their men. The city should start serving drinks and charging at the door. Ladies, you should be thankful a brotha has a job and is doing something positive with himself instead of killing one another. When a black man with a career approach you the right way, why not get to know him as a person? Not based on his complexion or his job. He could be Mr. right, whether his job is a garbage man or somewhere in Congress. See how he is as a man and how he treats you!

Now there is a difference between preference and stereotype. Your preference is when you like say for instances dark skin men or slim men or a buff man. That’s your preference, that’s what you like. You are not downing light skin guys or fat guys, you are just saying what you like, but when you go has far as to say, “I don’t date dark -skin men because their breath stank!” That statement is closed minded and is where the stereotyping begins. You have placed all dark skin men in one category without meeting anyone. A brotha should not have to have a police record just so he can get a fine woman.

 Mary J.BLige said, “Bad boys ain’t no good, Good boys ain’t no fun!” Why is the good guy with a job, independent, no police record and not gay, no fun? When did going to visit your man at court or bail him out of lock up or even dodging random gunfire become fun? Someone let me know. Like I said, you may not like what I am saying but hey, it’s just my opinion.  Let’s not judge a book by the cover, open it…read the pages and then type your book report. In the end you will get a better grade!  IF you don’t like what I’m saying…..nothing personal, sometimes the truth hurts!
